I’ve been admiring other people’s necklaces.
Often surreptitiously in shopping centres and other public places.
Necklaces like this one made of buttons – lots of buttons!
So I made one!
I bought a bag of coordinated buttons from Spotlight and used some embroidery floss I already had. I didn’t have the jewellery fixings that were recommended in the video, so I made do with a couple of silver slip rings and some thin ribbon repurposed from a T-shirt. I also threaded my buttons a little differently. But I was originally inspired by the video below – I just made a few changes as I went along!
It was a lovely afternoon of playing with buttons. Now I’m itching to make a second one in reds.

Tonya- this is right up my alley! I’m always looking for new “bobbles” to wear- but a lot of the designer stuff can get expensive. I imagine you could easily make drop earrings to match! What a great idea- and your blog is lovely! I’ve just followed you on Twitter and Facebook- thanks for sharing! Oh, and I’d be honored if you had the time to stop by my debut episode of Sweet Sharing Monday (weekly party w features!) – http://saynotsweetanne.com/2012/sweet-sharing-monday/ I hope you have a great day

Hi Nikki, Your tutorial was so easy to follow! Thank you for sharing it.
Verry pretty! I say a tangerine and gold combination would be pretty, and a navy and green. Thanks for sharing at Handmade Tuesdays.

Oh I like the idea of navy and green – I wear that combo a lot!
What a great idea! My littlest is teething at the moment and that would be great bling to wear and not worry about him trying to chew on.
