Rainbow Bean Bags

by Tonya Grant |Filed Under: Kids, Sewing Tagged With: Bags, Kids Get a Weekly Update of all Articles

I’ve been thinking for a while that I should make some little bean bags for the kids to play with.
Little Miss has started a netball program and they often practice ball skills with little bean bags.
They are softer for indoor playing, and smaller so little hands can catch them easier than a ball.
Ours are 4″ square and I just used scraps from quilts.
I was going to fill them with dried beans or peas, but we found a big bag of large birdseeds that was heaps cheaper and means we can make lots more 🙂
The kids spent all afternoon tossing them around, and even balancing them on their heads!
EDIT: I have created a tutorial for these: Bean Bag Tutorial

These are totally great and you've convinced me to make some – and then hide all my son's footballs, baseballs etc. 😉 Thanks for the birdseed idea – I love cheap projects!

And thanks for your sweet comment on my wrap – to answer your question I'd LOVE it if you featured it on your blog, what an honor!

    Thanks so much 🙂

Bird seed…never would have thought about that as a bean bag filler. Cheaper is always better. Thanks for sharing these cute bags!! I am visiting from Sweet Charli!

Bean bags are the best…but my kids always seem to turn them into weapons. 🙂

Beautiful. If those are scraps I love your choice of colors for many things.
We fill ours with feed corn.
That way we can also microwave them for small heat pads.
