Dishwasher Magnet

by Tonya Grant |Filed Under: Paper Tagged With: Kitchen, Magnet Get a Weekly Update of all Articles

magnet for clean dishwasher drawer
We have 2 dishwasher drawers in our kitchen, one above the other. I love that I can fill one and run it, while I continue filling the other one. I love that I can put dirty dishes in one drawer before I’ve gotten around to unpacking the other (clean) drawer.
But every now and again I find myself accidentally putting a dirty dish into the already clean drawer – Oops!

Here’s my solution:

A dishwasher magnet to stick on the clean drawer to remind me (and others who use the dishwasher around here!)
I used a plastic pocket designed for a name badge, some card stock, paper ribbon, and letter stickers. Then I attached an old magnet on the back – one of those flat ones that businesses use to advertise.
No more “Oops!”
Alternatively you could use printable magnetic sheets like these from Avery – available on Amazon (affiliate link)

What a clever idea! Although with my three little monsters "helping" Im sure it would get swapped around on me.

This is such a brilliant idea! I don't have dish drawers, but hubby can never tell the difference between clean dishes and dirty dishes in the dishwasher, so I really need to make one of these!

Nice! My husband recently found a similar magnet on a work dishwasher and was raving about it. One side said "clean" and the other side said "loading" or something like that.

    Brilliant, I thought.

    Except.

    Our dishwasher isn't magnetic.

Am toying with the bodgy ideas of blue-tack and velcro – nothing is grabbing me quite the way the pretty magnets are.

    I LOVE yours!

Honestly, I always wondered why you needed these, but now that I have FINALLY trained the kids to put dishes in the dishwasher I need one!
Thanks for linking up to the Under $100 party.

Found you via HOH's link party. What a great idea! We only have 1 dishwasher, but the knobs on top "hide" under the countertop overhang, and the clean light goes off as soon as you open the diswasher to check if it's clean or not. This would totally solve our problem – and it's wayy ca-ute to boot! Love it.

Very cute! I did something similar for my dishwasher in the fall and I LOVE having it. I even got my husband to use it too.

I will have to make one!!

I've seen that concept before, I think it's really handy! The people I worked for, half the time if the washer was full (they were a family of 5, then me, so dishes were done quite often, and the washer loaded up nice & full! lol) I wouldn't know if it was clean or dirty, if she didn't mention "Oh I didn't get a chance to empty it, could you" and it wasn't one with a lock to move (in my house we kept it unlocked when dirty and locked when clean, lol), so it was horrible!! hahaha.

And, I've never heard of one with two drawers that run independent of each other! How odd!

What a wonderful idea! My daughter is always reaching into a dirty dishwasher – I'll most certainly be using this tip, thank you!

That is too cute! We used to have one when I was growing up…one side said clean and the other side said dirty. 🙂 Yours is way cuter!

Just last night I was asked if the dishes in the dishwasher were clean or dirty. I guess this is bumping up on my to do list!
