Facebook… All the Cool Bloggers are there

Crafty Mummy
Uploaded with Skitch!
I’ve been playing with my Facebook page today
and checking out lots of other pages.
I thought I’d share with you what I learnt…
First I wanted a Welcome page
Amy has a great tutorial over at Blogging with Amy
that I had been meaning to go back and look at again.
But I found a landing page created by Pagemodo
at the Facebook page of Little Black Book Stationery
It was free and very easy.
I could choose a template, upload photos, type text
and then when I was happy the program installed it for me.
You can create one page for free but there is a pricing plan for more pages.
With my Welcome page created and installed
I wanted new visitors to land there rather than on my Wall.
To do that you go to your page and click on “Edit Info” near the top
Then click on “Manage Permissions” on the left.
You can then choose the “Default Landing Tab”
(Many thanks to Chantal for pointing me in the right direction on this one)
On the left of your page is little list of your tabs.
Mine include “Wall”, “Info”, “Photos” and so on.
I wanted to put my Welcome at the top of that list.
To do that, click on the “Edit” at the bottom of the list
then click and drag them to a new order.
I found I had to leave the top two where they were
so my Welcome one is next.
(Need more help? Check out another great Blogging with Amy tip)
Now as I looked around at other Facebook pages
I saw that some had Twitter in their tabs.
You can create that tab using Involver.
Like Pagemodo, it was super easy.
They have a selection of free applications that you can install with a click
then configure with your account details.
You can now see some of my recent Twitter comments in that tab.
Involver offers 2 apps for free
so I also set up a tab with the RSS feed from my blog.
I’ve read a couple of articles recently about automatically feeding
your blog feed to your Facebook wall
so I’m trying this tab as an alternative to NetworkedBlogs.
I love figuring out how to do techie stuff!
What else have you done or want to do to your Facebook page?

Thanks for dropping by, Friends. After creating my FB page, I wished I had done it earlier. And the welcome page was just as easy. Let me know when you've done yours so I can come and visit.
