Lots of photographers and bloggers and crafters share their photos via Flickr. It’s free. It’s easy to set up. It’s easy to upload photos. I discovered that I can set up albums and tags. I can even send my Instagram photos straight from my iPhone to my Flickr photostream. Nice!
But that’s where I stop. What else do people use Flickr for? Do they connect with other Flickr users? There seem to be groups and you can comment on photos. I’ve seen blogs with comments like “if you make something with my tutorials, share your photos in my Flickr group”. So it seems I could set up a group to let you, my readers, show off your photos, too.
Until recently I didn’t have a Flickr account, but I wanted to view a friend’s photo challenge so I set one up. You can find my photostream here.
I think I need to do a little more research. I’ll let you know what I find out.
If you have any tips, please share! Oh, and if you’re on Flickr leave me your link so I can connect to you and see your photos. Thanks!

I have a flicker account I opened a long long time ago, when I used to Myspace and I needed to build a custom background. I’ve never done anything with it since. I’m going to love anything you have to share.

I’m working on another post, Sonia, so hopefully it will be more help to you!

I love Flickr! I’ve seen groups used as an ongoing place to post photos over years of time, or just for the duration of a swap. Every fall, for instance, I join an ornament swap from Freshly Blended, where 800+ people are swapping. The photo galleries are fantastic – all in one gruop on Flickr. Other groups I belong to are thing s like “hand embroidery”, “tiny stuffed animals I’ve made”, “gray cats”, etc – long-term, post when you have new photos type places. And yes, other groups are from a blogger, and I post photos of the work I made with her tutorials or patterns. Another favorite group is “Stormtroopers 365”, where this lovely man took an amazing photo every day of two toy Stormtroopers (Star Wars, for those who don’t recognize it) and posted them on Flickr. He’s now doing a new set of the Boba Fett, but once a week.
I love doing random searches on Flickr and seeing what I come up with! And I love seeing what my contacts are all posting on Flickr.

Happy Flickring!

Thanks Camelama. I knew there had to be someone who read my blog that could tell me more!

I will saythe one thing I don’t use it for is socializing. I think they want to move folks that way, but I use it only for posting photos – the only socialization might be a brief bit of chatting in a group’s discussion, but usually only for things like arranging swap partners, checking in during a long project, or giving info / assistance.

I love Flickr! I post blog photos on there, I have used it to be a part of quilting bees, there are people swapping vintage sheets and Japanese charm squares and just loads of stuff. There are lots of groups (some of the ones on organizing creative spaces and such are some of my favorites).

Going to check out all your groups, Skooks!
