I remember a very special dress that my Mum made. It was a forest green print and ankle length with long sleeves and a ruffle around the bottom. She made it for my Aunt’s wedding which was held in our backyard when I was about 4 or 5 years old. We have a fabulous photo of my cousins and I hanging upside down from the swing set with our pretty long dresses around our ears. She also made a mini version of my dress for my doll. Now my daughter plays with it. The doll has seen better days but the dress still looks new.
I sent way too long on Etsy trying to find a copy of the “vintage” pattern that Mum might have used for my dress. I didn’t realise how many sewing patterns are available online! But that’s a story for another day…

What a lovely thing to have held onto! Lovely. I love that your mum made your doll a dress to match your own. That is just so cool. I still have come doll’s clothes my oma {grandmother} knitted for our dolls. They don’t make doll’s clothes like they used to.

Such a pretty dress. Yes there is so much loveliness to find on Etsy. I spend a lot of time on there – looking at all of the prettiness.

So sweet when the next generation enjoys family-made toys! That’s great you held onto it all of these years! I wonder if your grandkids will one day play with a doll in that dress…?

Oh now there’s a nice thought, Karen!
