I started doing some gift wrapping the other day – even though I haven’t quite finished the Christmas shopping! As usual I sat down to wrap, then remembered I hadn’t made any tags yet. So I went with the super easy, “made from what I had on hand” tags.
I used
- red card
- a black pen
- some green washi tape
Want the quick tutorial? Apply it to whatever supplies you have!
- Cut the card to whatever size and shape you like. Mine are 2.5″ squares.
- Add an embellishment or two – for me a strip of washi tape. You could also use stickers, stamps, ribbon, sequins, beads, rub-ons, or just draw a design with pens, pencils or paint.
- Write a Christmas message and spaces for “To” and “From”. Those somewhat blurry words up the side of mine say “Merry Christmas”. (Yes, I really went all out on these – NOT!)
Want an even easier option? Go back and read this post from yesterday about my HP Giveaway, click through on the widget, and find the printable gift tags.

Ha!
Well… as far as I’m concerned you went all out!
I have this stack of light green address labels I’ve been working on as to / from labels for a few years now. They were given to us (I think it was a box of 1000 labels). They’re the kind that have the holes on the sides for the printers to feed them through. LOL
I usually peel off one of those, write the to / from and that’s it!
If I’m away from my stash I have been know to use a scrap of wrapping paper, write the to / from on the inside / white side and then tape it on.
See… you did go all out! LOL
