After finishing my Rainbow Crochet Blanket, I was thinking about what to do with the left over rainbow yarn. Last night I decided to try a square from my new crochet book.
I hadn’t had a chance to sit and look at this book much, but once I did, the ideas started zinging! The whole book is designed not just to show you the different squares you can create, but to teach you how to combine them to make blankets. It talks about colour combinations and edging, and includes a summary of crochet basics with clear illustrations. (Perfect for when you can’t remember the difference between a double crochet and a triple, like me!)
My block is called the Centred Square, and I’ve worked it in blues and turquoise.
You can see what I made the square into over at And Sew We Craft today.

Oh! I know how to do that. 🙂 Crocheting is one of my hobbies and also cross stitching. I got that from my granny. And that crochet is so lovely. I love the blending of colors . 🙂

Thanks Alessa. I think I’ll do a blend of reds and purples for my next one

I like that square! I should branch out from the humble granny square.

I was so inspired by my new book, Katie! So many different ones to try – and each with a rating so I can see how hard they are.

I’m glad you like and are using the new book. Now….to get one for myself!!! I am going to start a wave blanket right after I finish my blue striped blanket. Projects! Too many projects on the go!

Oh yeah, I know that feeling!

Thanks Lynne. I love sitting down with a new book – especially when it means a new project too!

So pretty! When I finally have some head space, I will learn how to crochet. Maybe in 2017 🙂
