Violette, the Felt Doll

Introducing Violette, the felt doll!

She is a beautiful Russian doll made from felt and she is all hand stitched. My Little Miss named her Violette because she includes so many shades of purple.

I was lucky enough to be asked by Katia from Plushka’s Makery to try out one of her new patterns. She provided a kit with the felt, threads and extra bits as well as the pattern as a PDF file. The instructions were easy to follow, and the felt lovely to work with. Katia sells this pattern and others from her felt toy range in her shop and they are currently all on special for the blog tour.

This is a great project for a beginner stitcher or a quick gift idea for a more experienced stitcher. I made a slight change to the pattern. (Yes, I’m one of those crafters who can’t resist changing it up a little!) I chose to do some of the applique in blanket stitch rather than simple running stitch, but the running stitch was much better suited to the smaller pieces like eyes and mouth. I also used a little iron-on Vliesofix to hold my pieces in place while I was stitching.

Here are the toys made by the other bloggers on the tour so far – aren’t they gorgeous!? Click on the links below to see each of the other posts, apart from the one from Epheriell Designs which will go up at the end of the week.

I have been pinning each of them to a new Pinterest board too, especially for crafts made with Plushka’s felt. So if you have made something using Plushka felt and written about it on your blog or have a photo somewhere online, by all means leave me a link and I’ll add it to the board.

Thank you, Katia, inviting me to be part of your blog tour! It has been fun!

Disclosure: I was given the toy kit for free. All opinions are my own, of course, and I was not paid to write about this.

The Pinterest board is great idea! Thanks for putting it together. I don’t think I follow you on Intagram so I’d better go and find you:)

Violet looks gorgeous! Great job! I am still catching up on all the blogaliscious goodness from which I was away (taking me forever!) but I am so glad that I got to see your finished project. Oh…and just a little bit jealous of your fancy stitching skills! 🙂

Sounds like the perfect home for Violette (and I hope that she forgives me for misspelling her name in my original comment). 🙂
