UPDATE: Craftsy is now known as Bluprint and they have recently announced that they will be shutting down their website in the coming months. I have included links to them in many of my posts over the years so it will take me some time to update them with alternatives. As a general alternative, I would suggest looking at CreativeBug and Skillshare for crafty classes.
You can read my original article below but when Bluprint/ Craftsy shuts down, I would suggest looking at these classes as alternatives:
Confident Quilting Part 1 on Skillshare with Joellen Kemper gives all the basics as you make a mini quilt.
Confident Quilting Part 2 on Skillshare with Joellen Kemper explains how to finish your mini quilt.
Quilt Making 101 Patchwork with Liza Lucy on CreativeBug
I have written before about my love of Craftsy and especially the Craftsy online classes. This is the newest class I have come across and it looks fabulous. I often have had people asking about how to learn patchwork and quilting. This video class goes through all the basics, from choosing fabric and cutting it, to laying out your blocks and sewing them together, then how to baste, quilt and finish your quilt. If you’re a self-taught quilter like me, this class is great for going over the basics and picking up some tips.
But you know the best thing about this class? It is FREE! Yes, that’s right. Every now and again Craftsy adds to their range of free classes and this is one of them. So you can learn all the basics in a series of 11 lessons online for absolutely nothing.
