Let’s face it: One of the reasons you came to visit The Crafty Mummy is because you had a question and you were looking for an answer.
Perhaps you wanted to know how to make something.
Perhaps you wanted to know a clever tip or trick that would make your crafting life easier.
Perhaps you wanted information about a particular craft so you could decide whether you wanted to give it a try.
Perhaps you just wanted some inspiration and enjoyment in your day!
I get it.
I read websites and blogs for all of those reasons and more.
But what if you didn’t find the answer to your crafty question?
I’d really like to help!
Ask me a crafty question and I’ll try to answer it. I’d love to create an article that answers your question – whether it is a little one or a big one!

I am sewing a bag to put a sewing box into and need to know how many inches to add to the height to accommodate the gusset. I was only wanting to have 2 side seams and the gusset would form the square base. The box’s dimensions are 9″ x 10″ square and 9″ in height.”

I am just diving back into the world of sewing (it’s been 10 years) and I was wondering what is the best place to buy quality fabrics and what do you look for? I’ve gone to some fabric stores but all I can seem to find as far as cotton goes is a sort of rough, stiff, scratchy cotton. I’ve been to some online sites but how do you know what you are getting as far as quality goes?

I try to buy all my sewing and quilting fabrics at a dedicated quilt store. Where we live (New Mexico) we are blessed with several and they always have the best of cottons, batiks and other unique fabrics. And I can be assured of matching fabrics since they usually carry a full line of coordinating fabrics. Good luck!

I would like to make a big star, the kind that has many points . I looked up star burst but that is not it. you have a center star then keep going around in different colors. Do you have an easy way to make all those points or a pattern I can follow. Thanks for any help.

Hi Elizabeth, Were you thinking crochet or quilting or paper or some other medium? Just trying to narrow down the options…

I need creative and crafty help with a little romantic project. It’s silly, so thank you in advance. I gave my girlfriend a hair tye once for practical use. Then I noticed that she started wearing it around her ring finger. I told her, ” I’d like to replace that someday” and she said, ” I’m thrilled with this until you do”. Now the hair tye is stretching out and she has to wear it on two fingers. She said that she wished there was a way she could save it by wrapping it around another ring or something. Any ideas how to save this token of simplicity and love? Thank you!

Ash,
I’m going to send you over to Brit & Co for some inspiration on this one: http://www.brit.co/diy-rings/
I’m thinking you might be able to create something like the bright pink knotted ring with the hair tie maybe…
Good luck!

I would like to decorate a travel mug with bling and I’m not sure what materials to use and make it dishwasher safe. What type of glue should I use? Any other tips? Does it matter if the mug is metal or plastic?
