KMart Hack: Light Box Sign

light sign crafty day

If you saw my Ikea hack last week – my blog planner board – you may also have spotted my little light box sign sitting alongside it.

This little sign was only $19 one day as I passed through KMart looking for a birthday gift.  I couldn’t resist!

But I had to pretty it up a little.

Enter my washi tape collection. You might recognise my favourites from my phone stand project which still stands here on my desk as I type. I seem to be drawn to that lovely red and aqua combination, although I did manage to go for rainbow washi tape on my mail sorters.

Anyway, back to the light box…

It only took a couple of strips of washi tape to make this a little more special. My tape was slightly wider than the divider strips that hold the sliding letters so I carefully folded over the edges into the slot. At the top and bottom the excess tape simply wrapped over the edges.

I have stored the excess letters for the sign in a small rectangle plastic box with a lid and they sit neatly in my trolley under my standing desk ready to switch out the sign one day soon.

What words would you put on your sign?
