She is especially active through the Ebony Craft project and blog where you can read all about the different but easy crafts you can make in a jiffy.
Here are her tips on things to make with those empty bottles.
Do you like to drink wine? Want to make something crafty from the bottles? Everyone assumes that all wine bottle crafts require you to cut the glass. But not all crafts require the use of a glass cutter. Here are 5 easy wine bottle craft ideas anyone can make in less than an hour. All you need is a bit of fabric, some yarn and twine and a few other bits and pieces from your craft room – products you can buy at a local fabric store.
Wine Bottle Word Art
This is a nice way to upcycle a wine bottle and adds a nice decorative accent to a bedroom or even an office. Paint two to three wine bottles in a black finish. Try to use a matte spray paint so you don’t get a glossy shine. Glue a few bits of lace around the bottle. You can add a dried flower or two and then glue a pre-painted (white for a nice contrast) wood letter to the center of the wine bottle. Out of four bottles, you can create the words “HOME” or “LOVE.” For a kitchen, you might want the word “EAT” or “YUMMY”.
Chalkboard Bottles
This is a great craft for a child or a teen’s room. Just paint the bottle with chalkboard paint. Wrap the bottle neck with twine and hang a small accessory like a metal heart or flower. Then draw pretty pictures with white chalk on the bottle.
Yarn Wrapped Wine Bottles
Wine bottle crafts can go well in a bathroom too. These add pretty accents to a counter, the tub, or even the back of the toilet. Just buy yarn the color of your bathroom, then draw each long piece of yarn through white glue and wrap it tightly around the wine bottle. Add a piece of lace or pretty fabric around the middle of the bottle if you like. You can even add yarn to a cork to top off the bottle. Make a set of three with different sized wine bottles and complementary yarn.
Gesso Painted Wine Bottles
Artists use gesso to give a painting a little more texture, but there’s no reason why you can’t use gesso on other things. Paint two or three bottles with white or colored gesso and add textures as you paint with the backend of your brush. Accessorize the bottles with ribbon and decorative charms.
Nautical Style Bathroom Décor
For this craft use a clear wine bottle, nautical style fabric, some twine dyed to match the fabric and sand. Pour the beach sand in the bottle and place a few small shells to the top of the sand. Glue the fabric to the lower portion of the bottle and add the twine to the top edge of the fabric. Accessorize your nautical style bottle and add a twine wrapped cork to the top of the bottle.
These wine bottle crafts are a great crafting idea for gifts or can be an activity to share with the kids. The bottles can be ideal to decorate any room, bathroom or kitchen. Everyone loves these simple wine bottle crafts. Do you think you’d give them a try?
Thanks, Martha. I love how you’ve chosen pictures that give even more ideas for using bottles in your crafts!
