Crafty Blogroll with Pinterest

by Tonya Grant |Filed Under: Blogging, Social Media Tagged With: Pinterest Get a Weekly Update of all Articles

I read blogs. LOTS of blogs.  Some are about blogging or photography or parenting. But most are about crafting and sewing and quilting.

When I look at Google reader, I have over 1000 unread posts. But that’s ok. I read when I need inspiration or information. I have them in categories so I can always read my friends’ blogs first. My other categories include Australian blogs, blogs with link parties each week, and new blogs that I want to check out. My reader really works for me.

But I don’t share a blogroll on my blog at the moment. I used to. But it was so long and varied, and I wasn’t sure that I wanted that taking up space in my sidebar anymore. So I didn’t move it from Blogger when I moved a couple of weeks ago. I’ve been considering how to share blogs that I love. I know that many readers find new blogs to read by clicking on blogrolls.

I’m going to try a blogroll on Pinterest. I’ve talked about how much I love Pinterest before and it is all about sharing. So I thought “why not share a collection of great blogs there?” I have started the collection (or “board” as they are called) and you can find it here. I’m going to make a fancy button and pop it into my sidebar so you can check it out as it grows.

Do you read crafty blogs? Which blogs would be your top picks to read every day? Share your favourites…

I, too, read lots of blogs. I read them, in no particular order, just as they are posted and as they come in to my Blogger reader. The blogs I read are all craft related – knitting and quilting mostly.

Great idea. You can do different boards for different types of blogs.

Good idea! I ,too, am someone who has way too many unread posts in my reader. I usually get around to them eventually. I also categorize them so I never miss my favorites. I tried to do some posts awhile back that listed my favorites by genre. Could use some updating though these days . . . maybe I should try it on Pinterest as well. 🙂

I used to feel a little overwhelmed by all the posts, but now I just ignore them and read the categories I can at the time. Sometimes I delete a couple when they’ve sat there for too long!
