Charm Square Baby Quilt

charm square baby quilt city weekendI’ve been invited to teach a class at Creative Craft Retreat this year. Now I wont just have a weekend all to myself with crafty company and meals laid on, but I’ll get to share my skills with my friends. {I’m a teacher in my heart so I’m looking forward to teaching again.} I’m teaching a super easy quilt especially for people who’ve never made a quilt before. So I’ve been working on the sample and here it is.

charm square baby quilt back I’ve been waiting to use this gorgeous City Weekend charm pack and it has come up beautifully. Perfect for a baby size quilt. I laid the squares out to create a “rainbow” or colour wash effect from corner to corner. The back is aqua on white and the machine quilting is easy lines back and forth all over.

Of course while I was sewing I decided that I needed to make a second slightly bigger quilt for people who wanted  a little more challenge or a larger finished quilt, so expect to see another quilt soon.

UPDATE: You can see the quilts that my class created on retreat in this post

If you like this Oliver & S fabric, I’m sorry to say that it is pretty hard to come by as it came out last year. But their newest range, Modern Workshop, is available at the Fat Quarter Shop.

That is simply stunning! I am never talented to lay out the colors like that, but its on my list of things to do…(and it’s getting bigger!)

Hopping over from “A Round Tuit” weekly link party. I am a fellow quilter and would love to have you come check me out!

The quilt is lovely. I won a charm pack on a give-away recently and was wondering what to do with it. Now I have an idea. Thanks.

Glad to inspire, Lynne. I’m making a second one too with some 2.5″ strips in between the rows to make it a little larger.

Do you have the directions on how to put the baby quilt together online?

I don’t have instructions yet, Sharon. But I’m thinking of putting together a tutorial after Creative Craft Retreat.
