5 Things to Make with your Sew Sampler Box

SewSampler box

Lucky me! I got happy mail!

This pretty Sew Sampler box arrived on my doorstep the other day with goodies galore to play with.

Look at all the lovely things:

Sew Sampler April16

The box includes a charm square pack from Me & My Sister Designs – always so pretty!; a handy ruler from the Fat Quarter Shop that’s 6″ x 2.5″; a lovely Strawberry Picking pattern – yes, I could just make that! ; two super cute screwdrivers for twisting those little screws on your sewing machine; the perfect scissors for taking out and about; and the first of a series of block recipe cards. You really could just get sewing with the inspiration already there!

But I have a problem.

A biggie.

I can’t decide what to make!!!

I have ideas. Of course. But I just can’t choose.

So I need your help. I’m going to tell you 5 of my possible choices (um, yes, there are actually more than 5 but I have to cut it down so this is making me choose!) and I want you to tell me which ones you like, which ones you don’t, and why.

Plus I’m going to give you the links to the tutorials so if something takes your fancy and you have a Sew Sampler box to play with – just some pretty fabric lying around – you can make something too.

Simple Heart Quilt

Heart-Blocks-Tutorial-Cluck-Cluck-Se

I’ve had this gorgeous quilt by Cluck Cluck Sew on my “things to make” list for ages and it would be perfect for showcasing the charm squares. Plus the tutorial makes it look super easy! Find the tutorial here or click the picture.

DIY Water Bottle Cover

DIY-water-bottle-cover

Javeriya over at Sew Some Stuff has a tutorial for this water bottle cover. I seem to find myself carrying a bottle more lately as I try to drink more water, so this would be useful. I’d just create the outer fabric by joining some of the charm squares – and have plenty left over to make something else as well. Find the tutorial here or click on the picture.

Embroidery Scissor Wrist Cuff

I love this idea for a wrist cuff that holds your embroidery scissors and needle when you are stitching. This would be great when I’m working on my sashiko project. Again it would be easy to use a few charm squares for this project. Find the tutorial here or click on the picture.

Non-slip Sewing Machine Foot Pedal Pad

Another item that I’ve seen a couple of times and thought “I could use one of those!”. This tutorial comes from So Sew Easy and as with all their tutorials is easy to follow with lots of pictures. Find the tutorial here or click on the picture.

Chevron Shuffle Mini Quilt

This gorgeous mini quilt from Karen L. Miller is over on the Moda Bake Shop and looks super quick to create. I love the way she has layered some squares to create the flower between all the triangles. Find the tutorial here or click on the picture.

What do you think? Which one should I make?

Lovely sampler box! I’d go for the heart quilt from Cluck Cluck Sew. I love Alison’s patterns (and her fabrics) and quilts are always my favourite project ☺

My vote is for the Chevron Shuffle Mini Quilt because I’m a sucker for HSTs. Plus, I think the Grow fabric would look great with the white in the pattern (which is AWESOME-SAUCE!)

    Love the heart quilt.
I have made the machine pedal foot pad — very handy — as well as a water bottle holder — also very handy.

Although they are all great ideas, I would choose the Chevron Shuffle Mini Quilt, for one doesn’t find many post and/or patterns for mini quilts. Unless, I’m making a standard quilt for me, my daughter, or if someone has commissioned me to make one, most people aren’t willing to pay the cost of a standard quilt. This is why I have decided to make either mini quilts, small wall quilts or quilted items for kitchen/dinning room, for it puts them in a cost range that more people would be willing to pay.

I would vote for the heart quilt first , then foot peddle pad with a couple or three least llked charm pack pieces. Anne

I would vote for the foot pedal pad. I want to make one for myself but I’ve been so busy with the holidays that I never got around to it. I’d like to see it in some nice colors that would WOW me!!!!

I love the hearts! Go for it!
