Spring Scarf Tutorial

spring scarf tutorialSpring! Finally!

But I have kind of liked the scarves I’ve been wearing all Winter.

So I needed some light weight Spring scarves. I looked around the shops but nothing took my fancy so instead I bought a couple of lengths of fabric from Spotlight and spent half an hour sewing.

What You Need:

  • About half a metre of light weight fabric – chiffon or silk works well
  • Sewing machine, thread, pins and scissors

spring scarf tutorialStep 1:

Fold your fabric in half along the length of it with right sides together and pin.

Step 2:

Stitch across one end, down the long side and across the other short end, leaving about 5cm to turn through.

Optional: Stitch a second line of stitching using zig-zag to help stop fraying. I also trimmed the seam with pinking shears.

Turn through. Carefully pin the opening flat with the raw edges tucked in.

Step 4:

Stitch across the short ends about an eight of an inch from the edge to close the opening and give a neat finish.

I made a second one in a navy print, but I think I like the pale blue better.

Do you wear scarves? Do have a favourite way to tie them?

Tonya, I´m in love whith scarfs too, but I´m longing for spring too, so since I read your post…I´ve gone mad looking for a piece of silk o some similar fabric. I´m planning to follow your directions to make one on a pale pink and another in fucsia, (my favourite colors). And when I first saw the pic of your pale blue one I thought it was hand painted, so it has given me the idea to make one hand painted. What do you think?????
Thanks for the tuto, really usefull.
    Love♥
