365 Things I Know 1-10

by Tonya Grant |Filed Under: Photography Tagged With: #365thingsIknow, Instagram Get a Weekly Update of all Articles

Knowledge is a funny thing.

We can have lots of it but still feel kind of stupid at times.

Knowledge can be so particular and personal. I may know a lot about something, but that may not be the thing that she is interested in knowing about. So my knowledge is somehow less worthy – for her. For now.

But for someone else that knowledge is like a lightbulb lighting up. They are so excited to learn what I know.

I guess we all know a lot. Possibly more than we realise. Things we have learnt from experience or picked up over the years. Things we learnt from books or our parents, and maybe things we learnt ‘the hard way’.

What would happen if we all decided to share those gems with the world?

Well, that is kind of the thought behind #365ThingsIKnow, a daily Instagram challenge put out there by Laney Galligan. I’m playing along and I thought I’d occasionally share a little roundup here on the blog as well. The idea is to basically share something you know each day.

I’ve linked some of my photos to more information about the projects so just click the pictures to check for more reading.

If you’d like to join in, just use the hashtag #365thingsiknow.

Day 1

I’m happiest when I’m creating. (See my bamboo hooks here)

Day 2

My days are better when they start with quiet alone time – and coffee!

Day 3

Mistakes are part of life. {Can you spot mine?} The more important thing is what we do to fix them. (Find pastel DMC thread here)

Day 4

Quiet days at home with my family are rare and to be treasured. (Find variegated sashiko thread here.)

Day 5

There’s something very satisfying about emptying the washing hamper and the ironing basket. It’s a Mummy thing more than a Crafty thing.

Day 6

Cross stitching will look neater and more even if all the top stitches go the same way. (Find pastel DMC thread here)

Day 7

My baby girl is growing up. And her makeup collection may now be larger than mine!

Day 8

It is not always easy to look for the splashes of colour, but when we do they light up our days. We’ve had a weekend away and not all things went smoothly. It happens. Not big things. Not disasters. But enough to be a little disappointing and frustrating. I’m making a choice to think about the good bits and put the not-so-good aside for later. Art from a moment of quiet with my watercolour box and water brushes.

Day 9

I can’t wait to get out my brushes and watercolours after watching this class by The Pigeon Letters on Skillshare

Day 10

We are all creative when we have the opportunity. For me, that means having the time to play and have a go. Are you Creative? (My watercolour swatch was created after watching this class on Skillshare)

I'm sharing a little of my knowledge this year in #365ThingsIKnow on Instagram. Here's a wrap of the first few days. You can join in too.
