Denim Ripple Crochet Blanket Done!

The Denim Ripple Crochet Blanket is my latest finish. It is an easy blanket to create and looks great in whatever colours you love.

The Denim Ripple Crochet Blanket has been a little while in the making. But it was really worth the wait.

I love the colour scheme more each time I see it sitting on my couch.

I have made a number of ripple blankets before so I find this pattern super easy and relaxing. This blanket has been to Physie classes and competitions, tennis lessons and Friday night fixtures as well as on lots of car trips and carparks waiting for kids at activities.

See more of the ripple blankets I’ve made in the past here.

Often as a crochet blanket gets too big, I stop taking it out and about but this one seemed to be worth carting around during the cool Winter months we’ve just had. It kept me cosy warm while I worked on it!

I previously wrote about this blanket here, and it also featured in my post about keeping the edges of your crochet project neat. The crochet ripple-30 day challenge gave me just the nudge I needed to get this blanket finished. You can find out more about this here.

I would have liked to add more of the denim blue yarn but I ran out and couldn’t find any more. You might also notice if you look closely that I used two slightly different greys. I’ve been trying to buy less yarn this year and use the balls in my stash so that was the best match I had. I think it still works.

Vital Statistics

Yarn: 4 Seasons Marvel 8 ply Acrylic – from Spotlight (Try Paintbox Yarn for a similar yarn with a huge range of colours)

Hook: Size 4.5mm (also called a  size 7 or between a G and H hook) (Find bamboo handled hooks like mine here)

Pattern: Attic24 Neat Ripple – find the free tutorial here – there are even pictures to help you so don’t be afraid to give it a go

Starting Chain: 165 stitches + 3 for turning

Rows: 101 + starting chain

Finished Size: 115cm x 150cm (45″ x 59″)

Rows:

  • Denim – 20
  • Turquoise – 27
  • Grey – 25
  • Turquoise – 18
  • Denim – 9
  • Grey – 12

I’ve really enjoyed making this blanket and I hope it will inspire you to create one too. They really are not hard and look great when finished no matter which colours you choose.

It looks great. My plan is to try a ripple blanket or similar after I finish joining up my granny square lap blanket. I need video tutorials but think I can manage it.
