Shower caps

by Tonya Grant |Filed Under: Sewing Tagged With: Clothes, Fabric, Kids Get a Weekly Update of all Articles

A couple of weeks ago Little Miss and I decided
that we needed shower caps to protect our new shorter hair-dos.
Now I realise we could have plastic ones from the shop
for next to nothing,
but why have those when we could have cuteness!?
This waffle fabric came from RetroMummy’s online shop,
peachy-pink with ladybirds and clover – very cute!
I used a pizza tray to draw a couple of circles
about 18-20 inches diameter,
then cut them out with pinking shears
to avoid having to hem.
Then I stitched on some thin elastic
using the tips from the Supermom Monologues.
I still have to spray them with ScotchGuard
but Little Miss has been wearing hers in the bath and loving it.

What a wonderful idea. They also have some iron on vinyl that you can iron on to cute fabric and make them waterproof that way.

Visiting from the Toucan Tribe just joined you guys.

Of course you can't use silly old plastic shower caps when you can make these. It's so cute. Lisa~

You are WAAAAAAY creative- a pizza pan to measure!!!!! The pattern/color of that material reminds me of Strawberry Shortcake- remember the old school cartoon and her fluffy, pink hat?

Very cute–I need to make some of these–do they keep the water out? Thanks for sharing at Beyond the Picket Fence's Under $100 linky party.

I was curling my 6-yr-old's hair the other day and was hunting for a shower cap to keep the heat in and help the curls set. I couldn't find one and improvised with a towel and a stretchy headband, (she was not impressed!) but I was thinking "Man, I should just make one…" and so you are now bookmarked for next time! THANKS and so very cute!!!
