Boy’s Car Pouch

I think Mr Happy (my 5-year-old) might have worked out something important: Mummy loves to buy fabric.

It’s school holidays here so my cherubs had to come to Spotlight with me the other day when I needed zippers. They’re good kids and they don’t mind Spotlight. There’s lots of interesting things to look at and a kids section with a TV and DVD playing if they feel like sitting while I shop.

Anyway, as we looked at zippers, Mr Happy suddenly pipes up:

“Mummy? Can we buy some car fabric?”

“Umm, what for?”

“For you to make something to put my cars in, of course!”

Of course! After all, there are at least 50 little cars lying around on the floor at any one time so it kind of made sense. (Note: there is a big plastic box where they are supposed to live but he conveniently forgot that.) Plus he likes to take at least two with us whenever we go anywhere lately in case he gets bored.

So I agreed, and then had to smile to myself as he also insisted on choosing a matching zipper and thread.

Here’s the results. A small zippered pouch in cute racing car fabric ready to pop some cars into for safe-keeping.

And the rest of the fabric?

It will become pencil cases for my store so, yes, Mummy loves to buy fabric!

Do your kids like visiting fabric and craft stores? Do they always want something, like mine?

Very cute idea – well done Master 5! And a lovely choice of fabric and zipper.

I went a little overboard with Spotlight’s 30% off sale!

That is such a great idea! I love the fabric too, it is perfect! My kids always loved to go to the fabric store with me and would spend lots of time looking at the pattern books. They are all grown now, and I have to admit, I kind of like going by myself now! LOL

    Happy New Year!

Hi Glo, I often go shopping for fabric alone these days while the kids are at school, but it is fun to take them sometimes.

At least he wanted to buy something usefull, not a chocolate bar or something! AND it’s good that he loves the things you make!!
