Christmas Triangles Quilt

half square triangles quilt

Later in the year, I’m teaching a class at Creative Craft Retreat. This year it will be a quilt with half square triangles.  I’ve been working on the sample quilt and I just have to share it with you. I love it!

Now I know it is Summer at Christmas time here in Australia so we really don’t need quilts, but I plan to hang this one in our entrance.

I experimented with a few different arrangements of the triangles but I really like the final choice. You can see some of the others in my Planning a Quilt post.

I also love the stripey binding.

A few details:

  • Made from two charm square sets – one set of Kona solid in Snow and one set of Ready Set Snow by Me & My Sister
  • Binding: green and white stripe from the Ready Set Snow range
  • Back: red and white Christmas print from Spotlight

Oh! That is perfect for Christmas. I always wanted to learn how to do quilting. I admire those who knows this craft because they could produce artistic designs that could be use as blanket, table cloth, pillow case and more.

Thanks, Vynette. It really isn’t all that hard. I’ll have a beginners baby quilt tutorial over at Mum’s Business blog next week so watch out for that one

Your Christmas quilt is just gorgeous! I keep getting new ideas every time I read your blog but now have too many on the go and a cranky husband at the pieces laying all over the place! I really, really want to do the retreat this year but alas I think study and work commitments are going to keep me away for another year. DEFINITELY next year!

      Oops! Sorry, Nick!

But yay that you’re inspired!!That’s my goal!

A shame you can’t get to Retreat 🙁 It will still be there next year though…

Is it possible to buy the pattern for your Christmas quilt, I love it, thank you!

      Hi Ann,
Thank you! But I don’t have a pattern. I just created the half square triangles then played around with the placement of them until I was happy. You can see my other ideas in this post: http://thecraftymummy.com/2012/07/planning-a-quilt-for-craft-retreat/
      I hope that helps,
      Tonya
