Gift Ideas: Personalised Mug

draw on mug with sharpie

It was time to make a quick gift. I had some yarn for a crafty friend

But what could I put with it?

I decided a personalised mug would be the answer! I had seen some mugs around the Net decorated with Sharpie pens so I decided to give it a go. Super easy!

mug decorated with sharpie pen

Grab a pen. Draw or write on your mug. Bake it in a 180C (350F) oven for 30 minutes and let it cool completely.

I was concerned about a few reports that this didn’t work on some mugs, so I gave mine a gentle hand wash afterwards just to check that the pen stayed on. It did. It won’t stand up to the dishwasher though, so plan to hand wash.

Next time I’m going to find some coloured pens I think. You could also use a Porcelaine Marker which is specially designed for drawing on porcelain and glass, and also comes in a variety of colours.

decorated tea bag

The gift was crying out for a tea bag or two to go with it. So I grabbed a scrap of fabric and decorated the tea bag as well. Cute, hey?
