Do you link your blog posts to link parties or memes?
These are posts on different blogs where you can share your posts
and see what others have shared.
It’s a great way to get inspiration, meet clever bloggers
and have visitors to your blog.
There are heaps of different parties out there,
but I mostly participate in crafty ones.
Often you’ll see links to them at the bottom of someone’s blog post,
in their sidebar or on a special page of their blog.
A few tips:
- Always read the “rules” of the particular meme before you add your link. Generally they are looking for a particular type of post and will remove yours if it doesn’t fit in.
- It’s also important to link to your specific post, not your main blog URL.
- There is usually a button with code to copy and paste on your post or blog so that others can find the party too.
- It’s considered good manners to visit some of the other blogs and leave a comment – especially if they visit you and comment!
- Many run regularly every week so you can share and visit again.
- Many also run a post after the meme closes to highlight their favourites so watch out for the that one. (You can follow them so you can find them again)
- Generally you don’t want to post the same link to the same meme each week – everyone wants to check out some new ideas each time they participate!
- But it’s ok to post your link to a couple of different memes.
- Remember the host of the meme will try to visit EVERY entry and that’s a HUGE job – so be nice to them and play by the rules.
