I love my pinking shears. I love the cute zigzag edge they create. I love that, for now, they are my answer to an overlocker. I love that I use them so much!
I use them for
- finishing seams so that they don’t fray as much
- creating decorative edges on applique pieces
- trimming edges after I zigzag stitch them
- adding a nice finish to non-fray fabrics, like felt and fleece
- cutting the brown paper that I make into packaging for my Store mail (Note: paper will dull your shears over time so keep that in mind)
- trimming curved seams instead of “notching” them so they lay flat

Do you have pinking shears? Do you use them often? What have you created with them recently?
I smiled as I read your post – love my pinking shears and use them all the time. I love the zigzag finish it provides. I do not have an overlocker either so this is my substitute and it alot cheaper! My shears are probably almost 20 years old and have seen alot of use. I pretty much use them the same as you do – wish I had some new, creative ideas but I do not.
