This month for the Modern Blocks Quilt Along we are making a block called Binary. This one is so simple! I love how it gives a chance to feature just snippets of fabric on lots of background. It would be great to fussy cut the coloured pieces from a medium to small scale print fabric. I chose to match my feature fabric in pairs but this could also be a block to feature 8 different fabrics or just use the same fabric for all of the 8 pieces. I can imagine four shades of blue or green creating an ombre effect too.
In case you’ve missed it, this block is a part of a larger project that we are doing over a twelve month period. The team from And Sew We Craft blog have chosen blocks from the Modern Blocks book and are all taking turns in hosting the tutorials. In March Cate has the monthly tutorial over at life behind the purple door.
Here are my other blocks in this quilt so far:
May: Follow the Leader
June: Spool
July: Megan’s Star
August: Quatrefoil Block
September: Escalator Block
October: Best Friend Block
November: Pogo Stick Block
December: Crosswalk Block
January: Everything Equal Block
February: Parisian Star

Your block turned out very pretty. I can’t wait to see your quilt with all of them!

Thanks Susie – I really must get them joined together. I think I’ll add some sashing between them too.
