A few days before I had my not-so-crafty shoulder injury, I decided to pull out my ModernQAL blocks. You might remember if you’ve been hanging out here for a little while that last year the girls on the And Sew We Craft team decided to have a quiltalong based on this book:
We each picked a couple of blocks then made them over the course of twelve months. I hose the Spool Block and the Parisian Star Block, but you can see most of the blocks I made in this post: Quilt Blocks of 2013.
The time had come to put the blocks together into a quilt.
I decided that I would use my favourite 9 blocks to create a square quilt but after laying them out I felt they needed something more.
So I added some 2.5″ sashing between the blocks. I pulled out fabric, ironed and cut the sashing strips and laid it all out. Then I started sewing. All good. When school time arrived I picked up the kids thinking I would continue the last bit of sewing later on. Unfortunately I didn’t get back to it that day and now a couple of weeks of later I’m not really up to using the swing machine.
Sigh.
Another work in progress…
