Rainbow Inspiration

Rainbow Inspiration

I seem to constantly see things online in rainbow colours that I love.

Stacks of fabric…

Bundles of thread…

Tutorials and patterns…

Books for quilts and other craft projects…

So today I’ve gathered a handful together to share with you.

Perhaps they will inspire you too!

The Dritz Quilting Rainbow Color Wheel Selector is one tool that I need to add to my craft room. This helps to match colours and find good mixes of colours from the rainbow. There are a number of other types of wheels out there too but I love the way this one shows blocks of related colours – hues and tones and so on – for each section. It really breaks down the rainbow into more parts and makes it easier to see how the colours of fabric might fit into it. I’m a visual person so this makes sense to me. Books

There are so many books that i’d love to add to my stash but instead I add them to my wish list for Christmas. Any book called Modern Rainbow has got to be worth acquiring, hasn’t it? Again click on the covers to read more about each title.

Fabric

The latest Quiltybox included some rainbow fabric in spots from Riley Blake designs but I’ve always loved the chevron collection too. I have some of these in my stash now I think about it. I wonder how they would pair with the spots? I must check…

Rainbow coloured plain fabric can never be wrong in my book either as I never seem to have quite the right match for some projects. This Free Spirit stack would be well worth adding to a fabric stash.

Threads

Finally some rainbow threads. I tend to stick to a lot of neutral threads when I’m piecing as they can be used with any colour fabrics and blend. But I love the idea of making the quilting a feature with coloured thread.

Watch out later in the month for a thread stand project too.

How about you…?

Do you have rainbow fabrics or inspiration books in your stash? I’d love to know.
