Hi!
How have you been?
I feel like I’ve been a little absent lately.
I haven’t really been absent but I’ve had the kids home for school holidays so we’ve been having lazy Summer days of reading, watching TV and hanging out with friends. We’ve gradually gathered all the books and uniforms for starting the school year next week, and enjoyed family birthday celebrations. It has been lovely and relaxing to just chill.
While I have some new projects on the go, today I’m going to share a quick tip from my kitchen.
Now I’m not a big foodie. In fact there are days I wish I did not have to ever cook again. It certainly is not one of my passions. But I can and do cook every day for my family and my biggest criteria for our meals is “simple”. If it is not simple then you probably won’t see it come out of my kitchen!
This trick keeps baking a little more simple by saving some washing up and making it easy to lift your brownie (or any other slice) out of the tin and into storage.
Quick Tip: Use Baking Paper for your Brownie
When you grab your tin to bake that yummy brownie mixture, instead of greasing the tin, just line it with a sheet of baking paper. I buy a roll that is extra wide so that there is an inch or two that hangs over the edges of the tin. This is perfect because you will be able to use the excess paper to lift out the brownie once it has baked.
Pour in your mixture as usual and enjoy the yummy smell of chocolate filling the house as it bakes!
Then when it is time to cut it up, just lift the whole slab out of the tin with the paper edges. Lay it onto a board and slice. Then you can lift the paper again to drop it into a storage container.
Easy!
