Cross Stitch Rainbow Block 4

Cross Stitch Rainbow Block 4

It is time to share the next in my series of Cross Stitch Rainbow Blocks. This block is number 4 and is a nice simple design that really shows off the rainbow colours. I stitched most of this block when we were away for the weekend with my family and it was a simple one to do without having to refer to a pattern all the time. Each band of colour is two rows of crosses, and the colours cycle twice through the rainbow order – starting at the bottom of the block – but leave off the last colour at the top.

Here’s the free chart. To download it, right click on the image and save it to your computer. I do plan to create a PDF printable of the whole series in a few weeks so if you prefer a PDF version, sign up to my Weekly News so you don’t miss out on that announcement when I have it ready.

Some Ideas for Your Blocks

I’ve been thinking about what else you might make with these free designs. Keeping in mind that there will be nine altogether, I am planning to frame mine in a square frame. But you could use the designs individually to decorate all sorts of projects like these:

  • a coin purse
  • a brooch
  • a bag
  • a glasses case
  • a pencil-case
  • a head band
  • a wristlet
  • a scarf
  • a bookmark

I love all of these rainbow blocks! They are so versatile. My daughter wants me to put a patch on her backpack because almost everyone at her pre-school has the same backpack (they all have LLBean backpacks!). These rainbow blocks will be perfect! Thanks for sharing!

Great idea, Aida! They could go on a bag tag too that could be switched to any bag she has with her.

Lovely. Rainbows always create cheer don’t they?
