Pastel Rainbow Blocks Finished

by Tonya Grant |Filed Under: Stitching Tagged With: Rainbow Get a Weekly Update of all Articles

My Pastel Rainbow Blocks are finished!

I actually finished them a couple of weeks back but in the busy start to the school year, I completely forgot to write about them here. You may have seen all the progress photos over on Instagram or the earlier posts I wrote about them here and here.

I’m so happy with the finished project but now I need to decide something. Can you help me?

When I created my original Rainbow Cross Stitch Blocks, I added a running stitch border between the blocks then framed them in a shadow box frame. They now stand on the back of my sewing table most of the time.

Should I do something similar with the Pastel Rainbow blocks? What do you think? Should I add a similar running stitch and frame them as a pair? Or should I do something else? Which colour should I choose for my border if I add one?

I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments below.

The pattern for this cross stitch project is actually already available if you’d like to make some yourself. You can use the Rainbow Blocks pattern that is either downloadable here for free by signing up to my Weekly News.

You can then find the pastel thread colours in this post.

If you decide to make some pastel rainbow blocks yourself, I’d love to see them. Tag me on Instagram – CraftyMummy – so I can see them and follow you.

My pastel rainbow blocks are all finished! This cross stitch project is so pretty but I need to your help in deciding how to display it.

These rainbow blocks are amazing in detail and color. The running stitch would pull it all together.

I would choose the pastel blue for color between the blocks and embroider black X’s on the blue between the blocs. Space the X’s which will bring interest to the entire piece. Use as a wall hanging in a nursery.

Thanks Rhonda. I’m leaning towards a running stitch too

I would say that you can just add the board outside of all 9 blocks, using some dash lines or block zigzag if you want. I feel a little bit empty if it leaves just so. But if you did as same as what you have done in another rainbow blocks, that is maybe a little bit duplicated. Twins are always welcome if they look like each other, but have different characteristic.

These rainbow blocks are pretty. I would like to see them as patchwork blocks for a quilt. Would love to make a quilt using them.
