Cross Stitch Rainbow Block 9

Bock 9 Rainbow Cross Stitch Blocks

I was so determined to finish this last Rainbow Cross Stitch Block that even my broken arm couldn’t stop me! I will admit that my arm hurt a little after stitching, but the physio told me today that I need to try to move it more so I feel totally justified in using cross stitch as occupational therapy! (And now I’m using typing on my laptop as rehab too – winks-)

But back to the stitching…

This is the last of my set of nine cross stitch blocks based on quilt blocks. This one is a series of rectangles stacked like bricks in the same rainbow colours that I have been using all along. It was a fairly simple pattern despite all the colour changing.

Cross Stitch Rainbow Block 9

Here is the project with all nine blocks. You can see that it is not quite finished in this photo. I added some stitching between the blocks – what is called “sashing” on a quilt. My next move will be to give it a gentle hand wash to get rid of any dirt and oils from my fingers. I’ll dry it lying flat then use a warm iron to press it carefully. I’m going to frame it in a square shadow box type frame.

Here is the free PDF chart for this block. I’m planning to put all nine charts together in a little e-book in the next week or so which you’ll be able to download for a very small fee, so if you’d like all the charts together without having to click through all the different posts, look for that e-book soon.

Thanks so much for this last one, especially since it was done under difficult conditions. I have only finished 4 blocks without indigo as I am missing that in the pearl cotton I am using. I love how it looks and can’t wait to finish. Hope your shoulder is recovering and your therapy! has helped.

      Hi Michelle,
You just need to print each of the blog posts with each of the block diagrams. I do intend to create a PDF download but I have not completed it just yet.
      Enjoy stitching,
      Tonya

Can you just buy blank quilt blocks for your own cross stitch pattern?

I’m not quite sure I understand, Lou, but you could certainly use my patterns and change out the colours to create your own block.
