Pin Now and Save for Later

Worried about the small space that you have in your garden? Want to make the most of it and create something special? Did you know that there are creative DIY garden beds that you can make yourself?

There’s nothing more satisfying than making your garden look gorgeous no matter how limited your space is. All you need is to have a great imagination and the materials for you to be able to create your very own DIY garden beds.

There are creative ideas that you can do with your garden without putting much of an effort or a ton of money.

Colorful Blocks

There are garden beds that are made out of Lego blocks and the kid inside you will surely love them! There are Lego bricks for the garden that cost roughly USD 70, and you can purchase them online. The blocks are made out of recycled plastic and can easily be assembled – just like real Lego. Just make sure to till the soil in your garden before placing the blocks so that the ground is ready for planting. Find more info on these garden bricks on Amazon here.

Plastic Pools

This one is great for when your kids grow out of the paddling pool you bought years ago. You can use those pools as a garden bed. You will need to add small holes for water drainage. The good thing about plastic pools is that they are portable so you can place them anywhere you want in your garden. Shop for kids pools on Amazon here.

Wine Bottles

You can use the empty wine bottles that you have in your home as garden beds. If you don’t have any wine bottles at home, you can ask your neighbours or perhaps nearby wineries or pubs for empty bottles. Once you have the bottles, line them up in whatever arrangement that you please to create a garden bed. They create such a pretty sparkly edge! All you have to do is to fill the garden bed with soil and you can start planting right away.

Book Cases

If you have spare bookcases at home, they can be turned into a garden bed. All you have to do is to remove the back board and the shelves will create individual beds perfect for herbs or vegetables.  You can even paint the bookcase for a more stylish look.

Bed Frame

Another good garden bed is the old bed frame that you have in your shed.  You can paint the frame with whatever color you like and the ends can be a great frame for climbing plants.

These are all creative DIY garden beds that you can use for your garden to give it a fun and unique look.

Thanks, Ann! We’re in the process of making over our garden here at Crafty HQ so I’ll certainly be thinking about some creative garden beds now.
