Possum Blossom Patchwork

Possum Blossom PatchworkQuilters, have you ever tried paper piecing?

It is sometimes called English piecing, too. It involves using paper templates to produce very accurate patchwork blocks. It is particularly used for unusual shapes – triangles, hexagons, octagons and diamonds. Before you start, you need to draw and cut the templates, then trace and cut your fabric. It can be quite time-consuming but the results are stunning. I have a hexagon quilt on my long-term To Do list.

My latest sponsor, Joanne at Possum Blossom Patchwork, makes the process a little quicker by selling the templates and even the pre-cut fabric ready for you to get stitching. Her store is at pbpatch.com.au and Joanne also writes a blog. Her Flickr account has more gorgeous blocks like the one above that I borrowed to show you.

Her store is easy to browse with categories for the different shapes available. She cuts the fabric shapes from quality Moda fabrics and can do custom orders. This month she has this special offer:

OCTOBER OFFER:

Buy any pack of pre-cut fabric hexagons from the Moda range and get a pack of 1″ hexagons for free. Free pack can be either 100 paper, 100 card, or 50 paper/50 card hexagons.

Offer available until 31 Oct. Just select Free Offer from the menu and make your choice, or send me (Joanne at PBPatch) an email.

So if you are into paper piecing or you would like to give it a go, visit Possum Blossom Patchwork.

It looks fun, doesn’t it, Mandy? I just seem to have too many projects on the go right now to start another one.
