Cupcake Kitchen Set

play apron tea towels pot mitts kids

My very cute niece had a birthday recently and got a play kitchen. So I decided to sew her a special kitchen set to go with it. I’m so pleased with how it turned out!

I came across an apron with cupcakes on the front in Woolworths (of all places!) as I was shopping one day. There was also a set of two matching tea towels. My brain starting ticking…

I cut the tea towels in half and hemmed one half of each to create two smaller tea towels. They already had little loops on one corner for hanging so I kept those intact.

The other half of the striped tea towel became two quilted pot mitts with loops for hanging.

The other tea towel half became the bottom section of a kid size apron. I chopped the top from the adult size apron, removed the neck strap and trimmed it down a little. Then I joined it to the half tea towel and re-attached the shortened neck strap. I added some pretty blue tape for the waist tie.

Such a cute set!

A lovely gift for the budding chef 🙂 Woolies often have some nice finds in their tea towel /kitchen isle.

So adorable and very smart to cut the tea towels and make kitchen accessories with them, love!

What a clever way of repurposing tea towels. I must admit I never look down that aisle for tea towels, might pay closer attention next time I’m in Woolies.
