Father’s Day is Coming

fabric notebooks Father's Day

I have been doing a little sewing. These notebooks are going off to Handmade Highstreet in Brisbane and would make great Father’s Day gifts. The covers were super easy and just make them a little special. They are A7 notebooks so they will easily fit in a pocket. If you’d like to whip of one of your own, you can find a tutorial for a slightly more elaborate version over at Samelia’s Mum.

I also sent off some card holders like the one below. These are in my Madeit store as well as in the Handmade Highstreet store. They are perfect for carrying business cards but they could also be the case for a gift card.

The school has a Father’s Day stall each year for the kids to buy gifts for Dad. All the items are donated and many are handmade. Last year I sent along felt bookmarks and keyrings. This year I’m sending along some pencil jars. They are filled with pencils and chocolate. The jars are decorated with stickers – super simple craft!

I had grand plans for these jars which turned out to be a “Craft Fail”! I wanted to paint them with blackboard paint then write cute messages on them. Unfortunately the paint I picked up at the craft store wasn’t so great for glass. A little research (after the fact) tells me that I need enamel blackboard paint, while my paint was a water based paint. Like I said, Craft Fail! Oh well, now it is a craft for another day.

Oooh I love these “male” notepad covers.
I ONLY have about 20 more to make for the School Craft Stall. I might make a few boy inspired ones too.

I figure they will fit in a Dad’s top pocket – although these days they probably put their phone there!
