February Quilt Block

Craftsy BOM February block 2013

I was running a little late with my January quilt block but I’m all done with my February block – and it is only the middle of February! I must say that I like the first block better. I’m not sure whether it is the combination of colours or fabrics, or just the simplicity of the first block. This one seems a little too busy. But I suppose that is part of the learning process with a Block of the Month – not just learning about how to construct the blocks, but learning about colours and fabric placement.

This fabric is also from Denyse Schmidt teamed with solid grey, and the tutorial created three blocks like this one.

I can’t wait for next month’s block to be ready! If you want to join in this free block of the month, click on the picture below to go to Craftsy and sign up.

  1. [...] Tonya of The Crafty Mummy made this quilt block for the February BOM from Craftsy. This is the second year Craftsy has offered a free BOM for quilters. This year, the teacher is a personal favorite, Laura Nownes, co-author with Diane McClun of Quilts! Quilts!! Quilts!!!. Tonya’s fabric choices creates movement in her patchwork piece. Love it! Find out more about it on her blog. [...]
