A very sweet baby called Noah was born recently. He is so tiny! I don’t remember when my own were that tiny. It seems a long time ago but I suppose it wasn’t really.
Anyway, this new tiny baby needed a dinosaur gift. I had the perfect fabric in my stash – cuddly warm flannel that would be good for this time of the year. So I whipped up a baby wrap with dinosaurs on one side and plain cream on the back.
Then to make a matching singlet. Here’s a photo of my process:
Using grid paper, I sketched a rough outline of a dinosaur shape similar to the one on the fabric. Then I counted the squares and created a grid version of the shape. I only needed two colours so the circled squares on my pattern are the alternate colour down the dinosaur’s back. My singlet was light blue so I used brown for the dinosaur and dark blue for the alternate colour. Then I stitched it on my singlet just as I did in my baby singlet tutorial.
Lastly I added a face washer and the gift was all set to give. Hopefully little Noah will get lots of use out of it.
I have similar singlets and wraps in my Madeit Store.
So cute! It’s my sister-in-laws baby shower tomorrow and I have made a blanket/quilt with zoo animals, but was thinking of making a matching singlet – this has inspired me 🙂
You should, Rebecca. If you don’t want to take the time to design the matching pattern, you can always do hearts or stars or letters fairly easily.
Oh this is adorable, perfect gift for a new little fella & so beautifully made with love. Well done Crafty Mummy, love Posie
Thanks for popping over, Posie. I was pleased with this one.
this is so sweet
Thanks for dropping by, Angela. I was aiming for sweet!
What a cute idea and it looks pretty easy, too.
What a sweet little gift! So clever to cross-stitch on the shirt!
