Planning a Rainbow Blanket

My next crochet project: a rainbow blanket.

Lovely!

I’ve been dreaming of this project for a while now. I have bought the wool and I had thought I’d make another ripple crochet blanket.

But now I’m hesitating.

What about a giant granny square blanket like this one from RetroMummy?

Or a granny strip blanket like this one from Attic24?

Or a simple strip blanket like this one from  Lion Brand  Yarn?

What do you think? Help me decide.

By the way, if you want to make one too, each of the pictures (and text links) above are links to the tutorials.

EDIT: My rainbow blanket is finished! So I’ve written a Rainbow Blanket Tutorial.

Ooo, I love that Granny Strip blanket but I’m easily beguiled by colours!

They are gorgeous colours, aren’t they?

I’m thinking –> Rainbows are curved (arcs), so shouldn’t your blanket be a wavy (curvy) ripple? Then again, I absolutely love Attic 24’s granny strips. No matter what you decide, it will be gorgeous with all those yummy colors! 🙂

I love the ripples, but I’ve done two of them now so I’m thinking I should expand my skills and have a change

I vote a rainbow ripple! I made one recently and I think it’s my fave. Have also done a couple of granny stripes. I can’t get enough of rainbows right now.

I love the Snapshot also – what a beautiful way to photograph your crochet blankets, Katie. I think I’ll have to do that next time I complete a crochet blanket.
CraftyMummy, I vote for a rainbow granny square blanket – it’s on my to do list too! I think they’re very attractive.

I like the granny square blanket. The color combination is great and is not as distracting as the others.

Thanks Crystal. I’m thinking I’ll make mine in “rainbow order” – red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple

I love the granny squares and I also LOVE the stripes! You might have to do two?

Love the idea of rainbow colours… so bright and fresh. Very cool.

i much prefer the ripple for your project. next best would be the granny stripe. the wavy ripple is very pleasing on the eyes no matter what colors you use for it, but the colors you’ve chosen will work beautifully for it.
