Roll Call

roll call leave a comment to say you're here

Hello!

Are you a regular reader of The Crafty Mummy? Great to see you again!

Or have you just dropped by to read a tutorial or tip and found yourself browsing around? Welcome!

As a blogger I know that people are coming by every day to read things here. Google Analytics tells me what things are super popular (right now, Christmas crafting) and how many visitors pop over from Pinterest (love that place!), but I know that you must all be busy because there aren’t all that many comments left.

Now that’s fine, but today I’m feeling curious… who are all the people who come by? Do they come back? Or subscribe to read more somewhere else so they don’t have to return?

So I’m going to ask for a big favour:

I would love you to leave a comment today! Pretty please?

A couple of questions if you need a prompt:

  • I’m in Queensland, Australia. Where are you?
  • Do you follow along on some other platform – Facebook? Twitter? Pinterest? Google+? Bloglovin?
  • Do you subscribe to my Weekly News email?
  • Any suggestions for content you’d love to read? More of something? Something you’d like to know about?

Just scroll down a little to find the comment box…

Go on… You know you want to! ;o)

Hi! Are you lonely? I’m from Grand Forks, ND. I follow you on FB. I also do pinterest. I have no idea how I found you, but I liked what I saw. I don’t always leave comments, because I have just begun to realize how important they are to bloggers. Gotta go now, suppers ready. Have a wonderful day!

Thanks Cindy! It is easy to feel lonely on a blog ;o)

I am in (currently very soggy) Sydney and follow you via Facebook. I am admittedly a bit of a blog-stalker vice a frequency commenter….a bad habit that I shall try to improve upon. 🙂

Hi Laura! I admit I’m a bad commenter too so I’m loving the comments on this Roll Call!

    Hiya!
I’m in lovely Port Elliot in South Australia.
I follow along on FB, Pinterest, Blogger, BlogLovin and I subscribe to your email.
I love seeing your easy sewing tutes. I’m a very basic sewer who never finds time to expand her skills, but have many things pinned for when I do have time though.
Would love to see more sewing things, no idea what though lol and I of course love to see your crocheting 🙂

Hi Becci! I probably follow you in all those places too ;o)

  9. Kelly says

    November 23, 2013 at 1:24 PM

    Hi!
I’m in Melbourne and I follow you here and on Facebook. I’m not a regular, regular reader (but I can’t say that I’m a regular for any blog these days – just don’t have the time) but I pop in from time to time and leave a comment sometimes.
I like the fact that you do a variety of crafty things (like me!) and you always seem to use lovely bright, happy colours. I think you do a great job with your blog, so don’t have any particular suggestions 🙂

    • CraftyMummy says

      November 26, 2013 at 9:37 AM

Thank you Kelly. I’m glad to hear you like what you read – I’m really a rainbow colours kinda girl ;o)

  10. Kelly says

    November 23, 2013 at 1:26 PM

One more thing I just thought of – a lot of people comment on my Facebook posts rather than my blog these days. Even if they take the time to go over to my blog and read, they’ll go back to Facebook and comment there – I guess it’s quicker and they can carry on the conversation with me if I’m online 🙂

    • CraftyMummy says

      November 26, 2013 at 9:39 AM

I’m finding this too, Kelly – and I hang out on Facebook a lot so I have lots of conversations over there.

  11. Pat H. says

    November 23, 2013 at 3:40 PM

Hi, I’m Pat H., I live in Salina, KS which is right about in the middle of the continental US. I am a retired nurse who has been crafting since I was old enough to learn to sew on my Grandmother’s treadle sewing machine. I have your blog linked to my Bloglovin page. I have two grand children so I enjoy reading about ideas for them, for the house, and just crafting in general. Thanks for your blog and sharing ideas with us.

    • CraftyMummy says

      November 26, 2013 at 9:45 AM

Thanks, Pat! I follow blogs on Bloglovin too – I love how I can go into it and read a bunch of blogs all in one place. Thanks for taking the time to come over and comment.

  12. Joan says

    November 23, 2013 at 4:01 PM

It kinda feels like you’re talking to yourself when there aren’t any comments. Mind you, I am one of those readers who flip through, staying a minute or maybe 10, and don’t comment. 🙂
I think a ‘like’ button on a blog post would be handy. It would be good to let the blogger know that someone enjoyed what they read. Sometimes I just don’t know what to say in the comments, so I leave it. Maybe I should leave smiley faces in my path, so people know I’ve dropped by and that they aren’t alone, talking to themselves.

    • CraftyMummy says

      November 26, 2013 at 12:51 PM

Thanks Joan – I think a “Like” button would be great! Although I do like to hear your thoughts too 😀

I am in Toowoomba. Working on my gorgeous pinks crochet throw rug for a special teacher for Christmas. That and my rainbow rug. I am unsure which will finish first. And if I get bored with these, I have a dachshund bookmark to cross stitch and another pale green rug to start, as well as crocheting little santa hats for my guinea pigs (just want to see if I can and post a photo cause it would be SO cute!!!

I live in your hometown and I follow you on FB, twitter and Instagram and also receive your newsletters. I love your ideas and have stored ideas for a rainy day. I’m not one to leave comments but like Joan am happy to “like” things. 🙂

    November 25, 2013 at 12:01 AM

Hi, I’m Sarah and I live in country WA. I follow your blog in Feedly so commenting is about three more clicks than I have the patience for – I guess I should make more of an effort. I wish there was a way to comment in the reader – is there? I don’t subscribe or have a blog but update my business page on FB regularly (@Hunting for Ladybugs). I enjoy the variety of your projects, nice clear photos and good instructions. I too am drawn to bright fabric choices with more pattern sort of prints than ‘pretty’ florals. Enjoy your week, Sarah

    • CraftyMummy says

      November 26, 2013 at 5:30 PM

Thank you, Sarah. I know it is harder from a feed reader so I appreciate you taking the time for this special post. I checked out your FB page – love all your gorgeous bunting and Christmas stuff!

Hey Tonya, I follow via newsletter and fb. Also another silent reader, rare commenter -I often read via mobile device and its trickier to comment. Keep up the great work, you always do very inspiring stuff. As I fellow blogger I also appreciate the odd tech / blog related posts you do. xx

  21. Martha says

    November 25, 2013 at 9:27 AM

I kind of chuckled when I read your request for comments – yes, I’m one of those who reads your blog fairly regularly, but never comments. I think your request and the little wrap-ups of embroidery floss with the color number noted on each one made me decide it was time. I figured I must be the only overly-organized (at some point, apparently!) individual who wrapped up the floss and marked the color! Thanks for helping me to realize that I’m not as alone as I thought!! It’s 14 degrees, the wind is blowing, and it’s a bit snowy here in Vermont – a far cry from your current weather, I’m sure! But yes, I do enjoy reading what’s going on with your shop and your little ones. Thanks for a bright break that I do enjoy!

    • CraftyMummy says

      December 5, 2013 at 10:58 AM

Thank you, Martha! Your weather sounds lovely as I sit here on a hot windy Summer day! I used to do quite large cross stitch projects so I had to find a way to not buy the same threads over and over again – great minds, huh!?

I am just across the ditch in New Zealand…and I have subscribed to your updates. I love reading your news…and I’ll tell you what…those kids of yours will be all grown up and left home before you know it! We have four kids and they should still be at school in my mind…but now in their thirties and forties I have to say that they must surely be older than we are…

Hi Tonya, I live in NW Pennsylvania in the US and I get your newsletters every month. I am a non-commenter because, like someone else said, I don’t always know what to say. I love all your crafts especially crochet, and I would love to see some more embroidery if you get the chance.

I noticed that it’s Nov. 25th there-it’s only the 24th here..and very cold with about 5 inches of snow on the ground, and still snowing. Thank you for all you do and especially all the free patterns as I’m disabled and can’t really afford to purchase patterns, etc. I have the same crochet hooks I’ve had since I learned how almost 35 years ago! Keep up the good work, Tonya, and I’ll comment more often.

Hello from down the range from you and in the State’s Capital. I enjoy your commitment to projects of all crafts, but do enjoy trying crochet, especially the Rainbow Blanket. Still going!
Helpful hint for using pegs on the quilt border was appreciated.
I will share my version of the angel made out of a paper plate = As a girl, Mum showed us how to use a ping pong ball glued on top of the plate, draw her face and add some hair. Some tinsel around her neck covered the join.
Cheers to you and hope you continue with a great site in the New Year. Thank you.
