This might be my favourite Rainbow Block so far I think. I started playing with chevrons but in the end having just one chevron in the block looked the best. Once again the rainbow colours are lovely – although it has just occurred to me: what order do the colours go in a real rainbow? Red at the top or red at the bottom? I will have to find out! I’ve been kind of alternating the order for my blocks. The first block even has the rainbow radiating out from the centre! So real life doesn’t really matter here, but now I’m curious.
Recapping for those who might have missed out, I’m creating nine cross stitch rainbow blocks and giving away the free patterns as I go along. All the blocks use the same DMC threads and I’m stitching on 16 count Aida cloth. Each block is 26 stitches by 26 stitches, and I’m leaving 4 rows spacing between my blocks to create a picture to frame at the end.
Red: DMC – 321 (Anchor – 9046)
Orange: DMC – 740 (Anchor – 316)
Yellow: DMC – 743 (Anchor – 302)
Green: DMC – 704 (Anchor – 256)
Blue: DMC – 799 (Anchor – 136)
Indigo: DMC – 311 (Anchor – 148)
Violet: DMC – 550 (Anchor – 102)
Here’s the chart for Block 5 – just right-click to save it to your computer, or print the whole post. Eventually I will create a nice easy-to-print PDF file with all the charts together but I haven’t finished that just yet. (If you don’t want to miss out on that, you could sign up to my Weekly News to read about it when it happens.)
