Team Sashes

sash scarf easy

The Creative Craft Retreat is coming up this weekend and I can’t wait! Last year was so much fun and I’m really looking forward to teaching the four lovely ladies who have signed up to my patchwork quilt class. But I still have a few things on my “Must Do Before the Weekend” list, and today’s task was finishing these team sashes.

As with any conference, there are times when it will be important for people to be able to identify who is on the organising team. Last year I sat at the registration desk and directed people to their cabins, but those cabins are quite scattered so there were other team members nearer to the cabins to direct people. Unfortunately there wasn’t an easy way to identify those helpers.

This year, we have a plan. Team members will all be wearing these sashes so we will be able to say something like ” Look for the lady with the blue-green sash like this one”. Hopefully it will make things easier for everyone.

The sashes are really just long scarves. Remember my 5 minute scarf tutorial a few weeks ago? Well, these are the same except that I used two strips of fabric joined together to make them longer. Our team can wear them as scarves or over one shoulder and tied as a sash.

Need to be able to identify the organising team at your event? These easy to sew team sashes might be your answer.

Are you part of the organising team for an event? If you don’t like the sash/ scarf idea, you could make yourselves matching custom lanyards or decorate caps. T-shirts could be customised with applique, screen printing or fabric paint. If you really want to be different, how about matching custom shoes?!

Look out next week for photos from the Craft Retreat.
