Cross Stitch Rainbow Block 6

Cross Stitch Rainbow Block 6

It is time for another Rainbow Block. This one is based on the quilt block called Log Cabin. This is a really traditional quilt block that is easy to sew and looks quite different depending on the placement of the colours. Sometimes it is done in darks and lights which creates stripes when all the blocks are made into a quilt. I’ve seen a fabulous version with red squares in the centre of each block and then black and white strips.

But back to the cross stitch…

I finished this block the other day and started on the next block.

Tip for the Novice Stitcher (and reminder for me!)

Be very careful starting a new block when you are distracted by the lovely company you are with while you’re stitching. Take a moment to concentrate amidst the chatting so that you don’t have to unpick later!

I was stitching at KYB, a ladies group I go to each week, when I started the next block and didn’t start in the right place. So TWO DAYS later when I had stitched about a quarter of the next block I realised my mistake and had to unpick everything I had done. Sigh. Not happy.

Oh well. These things happen.

Here’s the free chart for this rainbow block. You can right-click to download it to your computer or print the post as a whole. I will be creating a PDF download of all 9 blocks in the Rainbow Blocks series in a few weeks.

Thank you, Mary! I’m very tempted to shut down my computer now that my newsletter is all sent and finish the next one in front of the TV!

Love the 9 cross stitch quilt patterns. I’m going to make it into a cushion front for our bright and cheery family room. A perfect addition, thanks for making them.

I just came across these and the link or picture for the cross-stitch chart is missing or not working. I was also wondering if the PDF version you have been talking about is available.

Nice job on these blocks. I love rainbows. I always say rainbow is my favorite color.

Thanks for the heads up, Susan. I’m not sure what happened to the missing image but I have added a new one so you should be set now.
